| | Port Dalhousie Community Relations Committee
This committee was struck in April 2007 to develop solutions to combat the poor behaviour of late night patrons as they return to their vehicles in the early morning. The committee is comprised of business owners, residents, regional and city councilors, Niagara Regional Police, city staff and the Port Dalhousie Business Association.
The purpose of the committee is to develop methods to solve the late night problems, test the suggested methods and then meet for a discussion and evaluation.
As part of this initiative, the City of St. Catharines has organized a public meeting on Wednesday, May 30 at St. Anne's School located at 218 Main Street in Port Dalhousie. The purpose of this meeting is to update the residents on the initiatives taken by the businesses to hopefully avoid the implementation of ROPPS. City Council will bring the issue of a Resident Only Parking Permit System (ROPPS) back to council on Monday June 4th. Presentations will be made by the Port Dalhousie Business Association based on the results from the test weekends, the business owners, city staff, councilors and possibly residents.
Many other entertainment districts located throughout Ontario are watching with interest what happens here in Port Dalhousie. Check back for regular updates.
